Headshot Session FAQ

Headshot Session FAQ

Everything you need to know before your headshot session.

Your headshot session should feel prepared, simple, and surprisingly easy. Here is what to expect, what to bring, how to prepare, and how we help you look like the best version of yourself.

Professional guidance

We help with posing, expression, wardrobe, and small details throughout the session.

Instant review

You will be able to see what we are creating so we know we are getting the right images.

Natural retouching

Finished images are hand-retouched so you look polished, but still like yourself.

The goal is not just to take a good picture. The goal is to create a headshot that feels confident, approachable, and useful for the way you need to show up.

Session details

What does my session include?

Our standard headshot session is designed around comfort, creativity, and efficiency. Whether you are experienced in front of the camera or getting professional headshots for the first time, we tailor the session to your needs.

  • Up to two hours of studio time with our lead photographer.
  • Wardrobe consultation and direction to help you choose the right clothing combinations.
  • Posing and expression coaching throughout the session.
  • Instant image review so we can make sure we are getting exactly what you need.
  • An online proofing gallery of your favorite images so you can review, share, and choose final images.
  • Hand-retouching on ordered images, including blemishes, stray hairs, dark circles, and natural finishing touches.
Where does the session take place?

Most sessions take place in our studio in the Winter Park area of Orlando, just a few minutes from downtown. We recommend giving yourself a few extra minutes to arrive, especially if there is road work nearby.

You can check our location ahead of time on Google Maps.

If you need us to work on location, we can discuss an on-location session and help collaborate on a space that will work well for your images.

What are my options for purchasing images?

Depending on the session you choose, your session may include a set number of high-resolution, retouched images. If you need additional images, we will walk you through the options.

Retouched images are best when you need polished, finished files for professional use. We reduce blemishes, fix stray hairs, and make natural edits that help you look your best without making you look fake.

Full-gallery high-resolution files are available for clients who want every image from the session at maximum resolution. These are not retouched, but they can be helpful if you work with a designer, marketing team, or just want a full-resolution backup from the shoot.

You do not have to make every purchasing decision ahead of time. We will help you before and after the session so you get what you actually need.
What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Life happens. If you need to move your appointment, just call, text, or email us ahead of the session and we can provide a link to reschedule.

If you miss your scheduled appointment or are unable to give advance notice, we are happy to reschedule your first missed appointment at no additional charge. After that, there is a $50 rescheduling fee to cover administrative costs.

Hair, makeup, and wardrobe

What about hair and makeup?

We highly recommend working with a professional hair and makeup artist. Hair and makeup are not included in the session fee, but we are happy to refer artists who specialize in camera-ready makeup.

  • For men, we recommend light foundation or shine control when needed.
  • For women, professional camera-ready makeup is ideal.
  • Avoid makeup with SPF, which can reflect light and make skin appear shinier on camera.
  • Go easy on blush, which can stand out more strongly in photos.
  • Bring your makeup with you in case you need a quick touch-up.
Please arrive with hair and makeup ready to go so you can get the most out of your session time.

What should I bring to wear?

Bring more options than you think you need. We will help you narrow everything down, but variety gives us room to create the best images.

  • Bring clothes that match your style and personality.
  • Solid colors usually photograph best. Avoid busy patterns and logos.
  • Try not to rely only on black and white. Bring colors that flatter your natural coloring.
  • Avoid extremely bright colors that can pull attention away from your face.
  • Bring an undershirt or camisole if you are changing tops in the studio.
  • If you are wearing a suit, bring the full suit, including pants.
  • Bring the right undergarments for each outfit.
  • Make sure clothing is clean and pressed. We do not remove clothing wrinkles in Photoshop.
  • Keep jewelry simple and make sure metals match.
  • Bring one or two personal pieces if they are part of your brand or personality.

You are also welcome to text us photos of wardrobe ideas before the session. We can help you decide what will work best.

Getting ready

What else should I do to prepare?

Preparation makes a huge difference. A few small choices before your session can help you feel more confident and make your images stronger.

  • If you plan to get your hair cut or colored, do it 3 to 5 days before the session.
  • Please do not make a drastic hair change right before your shoot. Hair regret is very real.
  • Drink water, wash your face, and use a non-SPF facial moisturizer.
  • If you get a facial, schedule it 3 to 5 days ahead of time, not the day before.
  • Avoid alcohol and try to get solid sleep for a couple of nights before your session.

How long does it take to get my images back?

For most sessions, you will be able to see and select your favorite images immediately after shooting. This saves time and helps you leave the studio knowing you have images you love.

For our standard headshot session, you will receive an email with a link to your online proofing gallery within 2 to 3 business days of your session.

Do you have recommendations for actors and models?

Yes. We work with actors, models, and industry professionals regularly, and we are happy to point you toward trusted people and resources in the Orlando market.

Just email us and we can send information on how to get started and get connected locally.

Still have questions?

Send us a message before your session. We are happy to help with wardrobe, timing, hair and makeup, or anything else that helps you feel prepared.
